Mapping the Electronics VC in Vietnam

This background paper provides a value chain map of the global electronics industry across five stages based on International Standard of Industrial Classification (ISIC) codes. It then uses national data from Vietnam to map the country's participation in the industry along the chain based on the number of establishments and workers.

The research was prepared for an ILO Fundamentals project related to mapping decent work in supply chains. The initial pilot focused on the electronics industry and Vietnam. Continued work on the project consisted of developing questionnaires and counting rules to survey establishments in Vietnam to evaluate decent work. These activities were all inputs into the Decent Work Supply Chain Survey: Pilot on the Electronics Supply Chain in Vietnam (2023).
