Global Value Chains Research Approach

This level 2 workshop on the Global Value Chains Research Approach included 10 participants and was held virtually over the course of two months (March 23-May 14, 2020). Participants learned the fundamentals of conducting a GVC research study by participating in a weekly seminar for six weeks that covered a key aspect of the GVC research approach. Participants simultaneously worked in teams of two on weekly assignments related to the topic of the week on an industry in an IsDB member country. Teams covered agriculture (cocoa) and automotive in Indonesia, agriculture (cocoa) in Nigeria, mining in Guinea, and apparel in Bangladesh. As the final project, each team prepared a report and presented their work to follow participants, instructors, and IsDB staff.
